Horse & Pony Restrictions

The ponies and horses used by members must be at least age 5 so they are well mannered in groups and less prone to startle.

Stallions are not appropriate for use in Pony Club and are not permitted to be used at any mounted activities.

MTPC needs to have a copy of your mount's negative Coggins report from your Vet's Lab at the time of membership.  Coggins need to be renewed annually, so please submit a copy to the Membership secretary when you receive each annual copy.

If your mount has is always pasture boarded and refuses to stay in a stall calmly, the regional and national competitive rallies may not be appropriate for you as those sites do not have sufficient space to pasture board during those events.

If you intend to ride a mule, please alert the event organizer in advance as many horses are startled by mules so special boarding arrangements may be required.

MTPC does not rent, lease, or loan horses.  Members must acquire their own mounts for club activities.  Fellow members are usually the best, first source to ask if you need a pony or horse.  As members grow in size and skill, good pony club horses are often sold to younger members.  The national pony club web site has a classified advertising section where members offer "sadly outgrown" horses for sale.
