MTPC welcomes new members, boys & girls from age 6 to 25 who have access to a safe pony or horse (horse /pony aged 5+ years) and transportation to bring their mount to the club activities. Many activities occur at Percy Warner Park's Equestrian Center, but we use other private locations as well. Transportation is the responsibility of the member/parent. Those members without access to their own trailer need to work out a shared ride with another member on their own or hire a commercial hauler.
Pony Club at all levels - local, regional, and national is a volunteer organization that needs parental involvement. MTPC's primary fundraiser is the Middle TN horse trials conducted over the 2nd weekend in October annually (Oct , 2010). All Member parents are needed to work at this two-day event. Opportunities are available for both equine experienced adults and adults with no prior horse experience - please complete attached list. Parents should be prepared to volunteer 6 hours at the Horse Trials event plus 2 other weekend days during the calendar year for a minimum of 12 hours annually. Please consult the club calendar to find 2 additional fundraising event days that will fit your own schedule.
Annual dues for new members depend on the join date. New members who join after Sept 1, 2009 will pay $195 for the remainder of 2009 and the 12 months of 2010. Renewing members pay $140 payable to Middle TN Pony Club that will cover $95 National Dues, $20 Regional Dues, $25 local club dues.
Additional fees are collected for clinics, rally (competitions), stable-in, and upranking examinations. The summer rally conducted over 4 days during the 3rd week in June at Lexington, KY horse park is the most expensive event at approximately $850 for both parent/member to cover hotel, meals, fuel, bedding, hay, & barn tools.
An excellent reference guide for new members and parents is available in adobe acrobat. This 16-page booklet provides an overview of pony club activities, the concept of upranking, competitions, guiding beliefs, etc. Additional parent specific questions are answered in the parent booklet.
After reading the new member guide and parent booklet, please contact the membership coordinator, Dawna Eayre with any additional questions by e-mail at dawnaeayre@aol.com or by phone at 931-920-2517 to obtain the membership form package.
Due to insurance regulations, non-member guests may observe our events while your horse stays home. To participate in MTPC events with your pony / horse, your completed membership application must have been processed by the national office.
